FOCUS - GUY BOURDIN - PHOTOGRAPHER

As Guy Bourdin is honored  with an exhibition regarding his unseen short films by the department store Le Bon Marché in Paris from September 18 until October 29, I wanted to focus on the legendary work of fashion photographer Guy Bourdin.

Guy Bourdin known as the master of death, sexuality and glamour and one of the most influent image maker - fashion photographer, died in 1991. He worked for Vogue and Harper's Bazaar and shot ad campaigns for Chanel, Emanuel Ungaro, Loewe, and Charles Jourdan amongst others.

He was born in Paris in 1928 and in 1950 he became the protégé of Man Ray. His first fashion editorial was published in French Vogue in 1955.

Bourdin emphasised fetishism, power relationships, and the potential for sexual violence, as well as the artificiality of the image, its gloss rather than its reality.

Great talented photographers such as Mert & Marcus, Jean Baptiste Mondino, Nick Knight or David LaChapelle are great admirers of his work.

An exhibition not to miss!!!
